All good things comes in three. :)
We all were then in for a treat. Altered Frequency played a few of their new songs. They are pretty good for a rock band. Well of course I might not know much since I listen to Classical and Jazz more. But hey, I enjoyed it, and I'm sure a few teenage girls behind did!
"Altered Frequency is one of the most energetic bands to come out of Malaysia. These five guys are passionate about making a difference in what they do and their music serves as an anthem for this generation to live out loud without compromising their values. The band consists of: Andy Yeoh (lead vocals), Kysern Lim (guitars), Daniel Wong (guitars), Agnel Raj (drums) and David Gary (bass)." (alteredfrequency.blogspot.com)

And here's a very passionate guitarist who isn't from their usual line-up. PASSION!
Then it was what I felt the highlight of the night - Rev. Kenneth Chin came up to share! Those who have heard him before know thats he's good. I can still remember his sermon about Joseph on one of the nights at E03. He's the man! He brought his team from ACTS church and its no wonder why David could resist us all to continue to go there. ;)
He needed something to put his Bible on and they gave him a chair, which was a bit too low. All credit to the stage hands as moments later the podium was shifted out, (or maybe Rev. Kenneth Chin is good at delaying time, noticed that he made the same introduction thrice) and he started with his manglish and tamglish (if there were ever such).

I dare say that he's really good. Outreach events in church normally has their church members outnumbering newcomers, so usually the speaker will have quite a good support. But last night was different, as we were in a hall that was not specially built for events as this (that's why they call it Multi-Purpose Hall) and you can feel that the crowd was still not warmed up yet. But after a few jokes, he managed to get all of our attention. He shared his personal testimony (something which many Christians in Malaysia would have heard before) with his usual touch of humour. But he constantly banged in the message that though our lives have been written, we can rewrite it again. No matter the mistakes we've made, we can rewrite it again. There's a God who cares for us, so we can rewrite it again.
And then there's an alter call (keep reading all ye of little faith!). Did you think that people would dare to go up in a setting such as this? I myself had doubts, but I couldn't stop myself from praying as I have a heart for my college too. More often than not, when you are active in your local church, you'll become skeptical when you attend other Christian events. And you know what's worse? Not attending at all! I've always come to believe that when the Bible mentioned that we are one body in Christ, it isn't limited to just our local church as a whole body, or the denomination as a whole body, or even all the Christians individually forming the body of Christ. I believe that churches are different organs and systems that are called to function differently, but yet to support each other. Do away with naming other churches as 'bunker churches' or 'parallel churches', calling preachers 'controversial' and 'false gospel preaching' and spending so much time on comparing church statistics such as 'attendance' and 'offering'. Bringing all this down a level to a smaller scope would mean ministries and zones competing with each other and cell group leaders comparing with each other. Now, do you get the picture?! Why not we all spend more time in getting our relationship right with God, and making a genuine effort to be friends with pre-believers, not just for the fact that they'll accept our invitation to church, and hopefully the atmosphere will be right, the pastor speaks the right stuff, then they're Christians, but purely on the fact that God loves them, therefore we should love them too.
(sorry I got a bit carried away as this was always in my heart...)
I believe God was at work last night, and this is not purely based on the number of people who went out, but the spiritual atmosphere. :)

All in all, I was very impressed with what the CF managed to achieve. Though it might not reach the standards of professionalism in the drama and dance, or the quality in the sound and lights, or even the effectiveness of ushers and stage hands, it certainly doesn't lose out in terms of effort. I could see and feel the participants poured out their heart into this. And I'll stress it again, their HEARTS! There's a difference and it was distinctly noticeable. :D
