AMERICA has voted!

The seventh season of American Idol is just over. This is actually my first time watching so many episodes of it because previously I never had Astro at home.

Both Davids were really good and my house was split over who would eventually win. America has voted for rocker - David Cook. That guy can really get the crowd hyped up with his singing. The other David was also a great singer. I personally think that his ballads are among the best from his repertoire. Being at a young tender age of 17, he has the best years in front of him. And I couldn't agree more with David and Silvia that watching him sing likens to watching a young Westlife member.

Talent search reality shows have always made dreams of 'normal' people come true. A relatively unknown becomes an international icon within a few weeks. What makes me wonder is why is American Idol so successful? For us Malaysians we also have our local talent search reality shows, but it seems that its not drawing much viewers. Our very own edition - Malaysian Idol stopped short after the 2nd installment and One In A Million only produced a winner. So is it because Malaysians don't have much talent? Or Malaysians don't know how to vote? I'm eager to see the our country's showbiz rise to the next level in both quality and quatity.
