Something that I read from a book titled '1001 facts about teachers'.
They understand key changes.
They're never embarrassed to sing in front of other people.
They get to use a pitch pipe.
Unembarrassed to jump around like monkeys while conducting.
They preach the gospel of good diction.
They can play piano with one hand and conduct with another.
They are (apparently) willing to direct a fifth-grade production of The Pajama Game.
They understand the difference between a major third and diminished fourth.
They know Christmas and Hanukkah songs you never heard of.
Can hum a B-flat without even thinking about it.
They aren't required to coach sports.
They care about the difference between 3/4 and 6/8 time.
They have triangles and other percussion instruments begging to be used.
They know what embrochure means.
They understand the difference between andante and largo maestro.
They actually have a favorite composer.
And this is my favorite.
Can sometimes be conned into letting you bring in your favorite CD for 'class discussion'.
Boy, isn't teaching fun?
